Sherry Arey

Executive Director

Sherry is a native of Basye in Shenandoah County.  She graduated from Stonewall Jackson High School, Bridgewater College (Bachelor's degree in elementary education), and James Madison University (Master's degree in reading and an endorsement in administration).  She began her teaching career as a classroom teacher and retired as principal of W. W. Robinson Elementary School after 31 years in the Shenandoah County school system.  She is a member of Wakemans Grove Church of the Brethren (one of our host churches).  Her experience working with children in need while serving in public education and her heart and passion for people make her well suited for this position. She knows a lot of people in the community, and she helped a lot of students at W. W. Robinson.  Sherry's husband, Barry, is also retired from Shenandoah County Public Schools and helps out around Family Promise on occasion.

Kelly Storey

Associate Director/HUMI Coordinator

Kelly Storey grew up in Connellsville, PA, just south of Pittsburgh and graduated from Connellsville Area Senior High School.  Her education includes California University of Pennsylvania, (Bachelor’s degree in Special Education), Shenandoah University (Master’s degree in Reading), and the University of Virginia (Administration and Supervision.)  Kelly began her teaching career at the Toms Brook School as a special education teacher and after thirty-five years with the school system, retired from SCPS as the  Supervisor of Federal Programs.  Kelly is a member of Strasburg Christian Church (Disciples of Christ), one of our host churches, where she serves on the Pastoral Committee.  She and her husband, Bob, live in Strasburg with their sons, Nicholas and David, and their dog Tessie.  Kelly is an avid fan of Pittsburgh sports, and loves to read, bake, and entertain family and friends.

Diane Wittreich

Case Manager

Diane spent part of her childhood in Northern Virginia but later moved to Frederick County, Virginia, where she graduated from James Wood High School.  She was employed by Valley Health in Behavioral Health Services for 25 years.  In recent years she has worked in the field of geriatric services.  Diane has a Bachelor's degree from American Public University in sociology and a minor in family studies.  In February 2017, Diane joined the staff at Family Promise of Shenandoah County.  She has been busy expanding our case management program and working with our guest families.  She is a very busy lady since she also has her own business as a certified health coach.  She loves spending time with her twin college-aged sons and extended family, gardening and reading.

Diane Pence

Outreach Coordinator

Diane grew up in Northern Virginia but lived for many years in Frederick County, Virginia.  She is a graduate of Northern Virginia Community College (Business).  She worked for Valley Health for 27 years.  She started her career there as a part-time pathology transcriptionist and retired as a system administrator.  Diane first volunteered with Family Promise through her church, Antioch Church of the Brethren (one of our host churches), where she prepared and served meals and acted as an overnight host; she also volunteered at the Family Center.   She was hired in June 2016 and feels that this is a great way to give back to the community.  She and her husband, Guy, enjoy life on their farm but also love to travel and spend time with family.  She is an avid genealogist and history enthusiast.  She also volunteers with the Shenandoah County Historical Society and likes to spend time working in her flower beds.

Donna Crabill

Administrative Assistant

Donna is a native of Woodstock, VA.  She is a graduate of Central High School and Lord Fairfax Community College (Accounting).  Her career began in banking and, most recently, she retired after 25 years from Shenandoah County Public Schools.  She joined our staff in December 2019.  Donna is a member of Woodstock Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) as well as several other volunteer organizations.  Along with her husband, Phil, she enjoys spending time with their daughter, son-in-law and three grandchildren.  Donna also enjoys traveling and reading.
