I am a Shenandoah County native and a founding member of Family Promise of Shenandoah County. I am a former educator and owner of Wightman's Insurance in Edinburg. I also direct three choirs at Wakemans Grove Church of the Brethren. My husband, Keith Rocco and I play in the Jump Alley Swing Band.
I am the proud mother of two sons and grandma to four little ones. I enjoy travel, tennis, gardening, horseback riding and spending time with family and friends.
I am inspired by the passion and dedication of the Family Promise staff, which truly impacts the lives of their guests.

I spent my professional career leading nonprofit organizations in the Washington DC area until my husband, John and I retired to Woodstock in 2015.
In addition to Family Promise, I am also active with Emmanuel Episcopal Church, the Shenandoah County Democratic Committee and the Community Foundation of Shenandoah County.
These roles reflect my lifelong commitment to care and justice for all.

My beginning with Family Promise occurred when then Board Member, Karen Walton asked me if I would consider being a Coordinator for All Souls Anglican Church, where families would be sheltered. This was at the very start of families staying in local churches. I agreed, although I wasn’t even sure what that really involved. All I knew was, that in my heart, without question, I was supposed to say yes! And I am so glad I did.
I am a retired RN and had a blessed career at SMH for 42 years. Jerry Copp approached me to be on the Board which I agreed to do as soon as I retired. I took my position on the board a month later. I have remained with the organization since that time. Family Promise has blessed my life in so many ways.

I was born and raised in Northern Virginia but has lived in the Shenandoah Valley for the last 36
years. I retired from Winchester Medical Center in 2015 as an IT system administrator.
After retiring, I joined Family Promise of Shenandoah County first as an employee and
now as a board member. The mission is personal for me, after seeing extended family members experience the trauma of homelessness.
I am an active member of Antioch Covenant Brethren Church, which was one of the original 13
host churches and was recently licensed to the ministry in the Covenant Brethren Church.
I am married to Guy Pence and have one son who lives in Murfreesboro, TN. In my spare time I enjoy traveling, bird watching and spending time with family and friends.
I am also a history enthusiast and likes researching family history.

I love traveling, golfing, hiking, walking, and being outdoors. My husband and I attend First Baptist Church-Woodstock, and we are both passionate about reaching others for Jesus Christ.

I am a Shenandoah County native being born and raised in Strasburg, VA and have lived for the past 53 years. I was a 1990 graduate of Strasburg High School. Through my high school years, I worked at Cardinal Electrical Supply in Stephens City. In 1994, I was hired at Green Bay Packaging, Inc where I have been employed for the past 31 years. During my employment there, I have been in a supervisory role and many process improvement positions. Nine years ago, I was moved into the Maintenance Superintendent position of this facility where I oversee the daily maintenance of the machinery and facility, maintaining upkeep and budget within the maintenance department. During my time at Green Bay Packaging, I have taken many leadership training classes including a Leadership Inspired Certificate Program.
I am a member of Strasburg Christian Church where I serve as a Deacon and fill in as a lay speaker in our church as well as several other churches within the county. Before joining Strasburg Christian Church, I was a member of Mt. Olive United Methodist Church where I served in many roles such as PPM Chair and Chair of the Administrative Board.
I have been married to my wife Lawana for 24 years and we have 2 daughters Jackie who is a paralegal and Maira is a CNA and is enrolled at LRCC pursuing her RN nursing certification. We also have 3 crazy labrador retrievers, Murphy, Hazel, and Walter, that keep us busy.

I live west of Woodstock with my wife of 38 years, Lisa, who is a registered nurse working at WMC in Cath holding. We have three grown children, Jake, Sally, and Joel.
I shepherd God’s flock that gathers at Community Mission Covenant Brethren Church. In my early days I worked construction, masonry, carpentry, and various other trades from time to time. I worked 16 years at Bowman Apple Products, now Andros in Mt. Jackson. I served as maintenance manager, assistant plant manager and eventually plant manager. I left BAP in 2002 to work at what I had always wanted to do, building things with wood. I joined Shenandoah Woodworks in Maurertown where I worked for 20 years as their lead cabinet/furniture builder. I LOVED it and still do. I retired from SWW in 2022 to devote more time to being pastor at Community Mission Church. God called me into ministry early in life, at age 19, and He increasingly drew me into a deeper
relationship and service to Him until 2012 when I became an ordained pastor.
In what little spare time I can eke out, I enjoy hiking, cycling, scroll saw work, lathe work and an occasional trip planned out by my wife. Sometimes overseas but mostly to other parts of this great country. Lisa is a great trip planner.
God calls each of us to serve Him by serving others and not just other “Christians”. I very much enjoy serving on the board at Family Promise. They help keep my trades skills up to snuff. Family Promise makes a lasting positive impact on those we serve regardless of whether they succeed or fail to get their lives together. Most do succeed but still the influence Family Promise has on them is a lasting and positive one.
